Welcome to Second Nature

Welcome to Second Nature. A journal that reads the way the best wellness conversations actually sound, which is to say curious, specific, slightly opinionated, and grounded in something more interesting than a hunch. A place to write about the ingredients we are excited about and the ones we have decided to leave alone. A place to ask the people we admire how they actually structure a Tuesday. A place to take you into a greenhouse, a lab, a kitchen, a forest floor, and explain what we are looking at and why it matters.

Some of it will be reported. Some of it will be in conversation with practitioners, researchers, and clinicians whose work we trust. Some of it will be us thinking out loud about formulation, sourcing, materials, and the parts of running this company that are still being figured out. When the evidence is mixed, we will say so. When something is a working hypothesis rather than a settled answer, we will say that too.

"A place to write about the ingredients we are excited about and the ones we have decided to leave alone."

What you'll find here

The Evidence Edit

Where the research actually sits. Circadian biology, sleep architecture, the difference between a powdered botanical and a standardised extract, what dose-response curves tell us about thresholds for things like steps and sun and sleep. We name the studies and we tell you when a single trial is being asked to do more work than it can.

Daily Rhythm

Routines, in detail. How people we admire structure their mornings and evenings, what they have changed, what they have held onto. Less prescription, more reporting. Something to borrow, not something to copy.

In Here

The home as a working environment. The objects, lighting, layout, and small geographies that shape what we repeat and what we forget. Honest opinions on what is worth the spend and what is not.

Out There

Outside the front door. Walking, daylight, weather, terrain. Places worth the trip. Independent shops, gardens, and the kind of restaurant that has been doing one thing well for a decade.

Our Generation

The work behind the products. Where our ingredients come from, how they are grown, the standards we hold them to, what our packaging is made of, and the trade-offs we are still working through. Where we have good answers, we share them. Where we don't, we say so.

"How the people we admire actually structure a Tuesday."

There is a lot we want to show you. We are glad you found us here.
